CIS Contractors

A CIS tax return is a Self Assessment tax return submitted by construction subcontractors registered under the Construction Industry Scheme. It allows subcontractors to declare income, claim allowable expenses, and potentially receive a CIS tax refund from HM Revenue & Customs.

You must submit a CIS tax return in the UK if you are a self-employed subcontractor in the construction industry and tax is deducted from your payments under the Construction Industry Scheme.
