Rent a Room

The scheme that allows you to receive gross income up to a tax-free threshold by letting out a room in your home is called the 'Rent a Room Scheme'. The full threshold is available for sole property owners, however, is halved when the income is shared with your partner, or someone else.

Receipt of gross income above the threshold in place requires the filing of a tax return to report the income and expenses.
